Commonly selected two materials for downhole control line tubings are Alloy 825 and 316L and occasionally Alloy 625 is also used. 316L, Alloy 825 and Alloy 625 are suitable for applications up to 200°F (93°C), 350°F (177°C) and high pressure application up to 400°F (204°C) respectively. Alloy 825 is resistant to H2S and CO2 and Alloy 625 is highly resistant to H2S and CO2 in more severe sour well environment. The metal tubings are typically manufactured in both seamless and seam welded coil tubing forms. To complete extremely long length coiled tubings, orbital welds are often required.
